When talking fragrances, the word “patchouli” has a negative connotation. People tend to associate it with hippie culture, because it was commonly worn in the 1960s and 1970s by people associated with the Hare Krishna movement. They tended to wear cheap, poorly made synthetic formulations that detracted from the pleasant natural scent of patchouli.
Patchouli is an herb that’s a part of the mint family. The herb has delicate, pink-tinted white flowers with aromatic leaves. Patchouli oil has a rich and herbaceous scent with a hint of mint and a woodsy undertone. Like a fine wine, patchouli oil gets better with age. Well aged patchouli oil has a more full scent with a fruit-like nuance.
Patchouli oil is used in a number of luxury fragrances available from The Fragrance Group. One of our favorite examples of this is the Tiziana Terenzi Gold Rose Oudh Extrait de Parfum. This fine fragrance has middle notes of patchouli, as well as rose and black pepper. It is rounded out with notes of bergamot, fir, ember, sandalwood, musk, amber, and honey. The result is an earthy, charming, and mysterious scent. Counterfeit designer items are far from uncommon. In fact, eBay estimates that up to 10% of perfumes and toiletries in the market place are fake. Fake perfumes are not only a waste of money, they can be dangerous. Illegally manufactured perfumes have, on occasion, caused skin rashes. The reasoning behind this is that counterfeit products don’t have to adhere to the strict safety substantiation requirements enforced by the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.
There are ways to avoid buying a fake perfume. Generally, if a deal on a designer fragrance looks too good to be true, it probably is. If the price of a perfume seems suspiciously cheap, don’t buy it. Frequently, when someone is selling a knock-off fragrance, they claim that they are reselling it. If this is the case, get a good look at the product photos and product description to be sure it matches that of the actual designer fragrance. Also, be sure to look up reviews of the seller.
When buying a fragrance online, it’s important that you purchase from a reputable source. Tiziana Terenzi is fairly new to the fragrance game, with its earliest edition entering the market in 2012. Although the brand is a newcomer, the Terenzi family has been a part of the fragrance world for decades. Cereria Terenzi was established in 1968. At that time, Cereria Terenzi was primarily known for scented candles, but eventually expanded into perfumes.
The Fragrance Group currently carries four Tiziana Terenzi fragrances from the Extrait de Parfum series. The fragrances are inspired by fire, each representing a different aspect of fire’s beauty. Gold Rose Oudh, for example, symbolizes fire in a desert camp. Its spicy and sensual notes of bergamot, ember, and sand evoke the mysterious charm of a night in the wilderness. Ecstasy by Tiziana Terenzi has base notes of ancient wood and is designed to reflect the fire of the soul. White Fire has top notes of fresh ice and oxygen and perfectly captures the essence of a fire burning on the snowy ground. XIX March is inspired by La Focarina di S. Giuseppe, a tradition in which a bonfire is built to welcome the spring. The scent is fresh and intense.

Bentley Fragrances for Men has a collection of lush and exclusive ingredients selected by the perfumer to convey Bentley’s sense of sophisticated style. Who was the perfumer behind this sophisticated scent? Nathalie Lorson. Let’s delve a bit into her backstory.
Ms. Lorson has an impressive collection of perfume creations in her portfolio. She’s created fragrances for high-fashion brands like Dior as well as for more accessible, yet respected, brands like Adidas. She was born in Grasse where her father worked as a fragrance chemist for Roure. After she graduated high school in 1980, she decided to enter the fragrance world by signing up for Roure’s in-house training program. Believe it or not, in those days, female perfumers were a rarity. She has a reputation for being a chameleon when it comes to fragrance productions, and she prides herself for never having done the same thing twice. Over time, her scent creations have transformed, growing less complicated formula-wise, but somehow becoming more luxurious and complex. To date, she has created over 70 scent. When asked what signature scents she tends to work with, she said, “I usually seek harmony in accords. My creations are said to be round and sensual.”

At Park Fragrance, we’re proud to carry designer fragrances like the Bentley for Men collection. As a special treat for fans of the fragrance, today’s blog post will shed a little light on the brand’s distinguished founder, W.O. Bentley.
Walter Owen Bentley was an engineer born in Hampstead, London. When he was 16, he left his home to become an apprentice railway engineer with the Great Northern Railway in Yorkshire. While there, he learned how to design and build complex machinery. After, he studied theoretical engineering at King’s College London, and in 1912, he and his brother H.M. Bentley started a company called “Bentley and Bentley” where they sold French cars. W.O. was not satisfied with the state of the cars and made a set of aluminum alloy pistons made for them.
At the outbreak of World War I, those aluminum alloy pistons were used for power output in the Royal Naval Air Service. Eventually, W.O. designed his own aero-engine for the Navy. After the war, he and his brother founded their own motor car business, Bentley Motors Limited. By 1921, their first production car earned widespread acclaim for its durability.
W.O. Bentley was a smart, successful man whose name eventually became synonymous with sophisticated yet decidedly masculine design. Bentley Fragrances for Men have that same elegant, manly style.
